Cause This feature is locked because the administrator account or the organization disables the feature in the Local Group Policy Editor or in the Registry Editor. Thus to re-enable the back feature need to deactivate the required login account must have administrator privileges.

Activate in the Local Group Policy Editor


Open the Local Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the taskbar search box or in the Run dialog box.

Navigate to the following courses:


Computer Configuration> Administrators Templates> Start menu and Taskbar
User Configuration> Administrators Templates> Start menu and Taskbar

Right-click on the lock labeled "Recently added" list from the Start menu. If this key is in the right-click Enabled state, select Edit settings to Not Configured. Click OK to apply the change.

Activate in Registry Editor


Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the taskbar search box or in the Run dialog box.

Navigate to the following courses:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Explorer

Right-click on the HideRecentlyAddedApps value to right-click Delete
